Just broke a $90 Freud blade on a hidden screw in a maple face frame, do I keep the saw guard on or not?
Was ripping down a face frame for a kitchen job in Rochester last Thursday and hit a drywall screw the last guy buried in the maple. Blade is toast, and now I'm second guessing whether I should've caught it with a magnet before cutting. Half the guys in my shop say the riving knife and guard would've stopped it, the other half say guards just slow you down and this is the cost of doing trim work. What do you all actually run on your table saws for cabinet work, and did a magnet pass ever actually save you?
