My drawer slide measuring method was totally off for 5 years

I finally caught it when a customer brought in a 21 inch soft close from Blum and asked me to match it. I kept adding a quarter inch for clearance and ended up with a 19 inch box that wouldnt fit. Now I just measure the slide itself, screw holes and all, before I cut anything. Anybody else still using their old shortcut out of habit?

Man, that hits home. Did the same thing for years until a kitchen job went sideways and I had to rip out a whole cabinet row to fix it.
