Overheard a homeowner say something about drawer slides that got me thinking

I was at a kitchen supply place near Pittsburgh last Thursday and this guy told the clerk he wanted "the smoothest slides" for his wife's baking station. He didn't care about weight rating or side mount vs under mount, just how they felt pulling out. Made me wonder if we overthink specs when the customer just wants a satisfying experience.

Haven't you ever had a customer insist on something that made no practical sense? I get where the guy was coming from, but smooth feeling doesn't mean much if those slides can't handle the bags of flour and heavy mixing bowls. Weight rating is kind of a big deal for a baking station. I've seen too many cheap slides that feel great for a week then start sagging or binding up.

Yeah smooth feeling wears off fast when stuff starts getting heavy.
