Random trick I found for fixing tearout on plywood edges

I was building a set of kitchen cabinets last month and kept getting nasty tearout on the prefinished plywood. Tried a new blade, slower feed, even painters tape on the cut line. What actually worked was scoring the cut line with a sharp utility knife first before running the saw. Took an extra 30 seconds per cut and the edges came out clean enough to skip sanding. Anyone else use this trick or have a better way to handle it?

That scoring trick works great, I use it too. Reminds me of when I tried it on some cheap melamine shelving and it chipped way less than I expected.

Yeah that scoring trick is gold. I do the same thing on melamine shelving cuts and it saves me so much cleanup time.
