Spent 4 hours last Tuesday trying to fix a drawer that kept binding, turns out the slides were just 1/16th of an inch off level.
I had to pull the whole cabinet out and re-drill the screw holes, which made me wonder how many other jobs I've overcomplicated because I didn't stop and measure twice first - anyone else ever chase a problem that was basically a pencil mark away?

You see that's exactly what I'm saying, half the time I swear the fix is smaller than the headache it causes. I've got a six-inch level and a speed square that have saved me from doing stuff twice more times than I can count now. It's those tiny little adjustments that sneak up on you when you're in a hurry.

Wait, you had to pull the whole cabinet out just for 1/16th of an inch? That's brutal, man. I did something similar last month with a closet door that kept rubbing on the frame. Spent a whole afternoon shaving the door down with a plane before I realized the bottom hinge was just a hair too tight. Coulda saved myself 3 hours if I'd just checked the level on the hinge plate first.
