Stop putting crown molding on frameless cabinets, it never looks right
I keep seeing guys screw crown right to the top of frameless boxes and it drives me nuts, the cabinet doors end up sitting flush with no reveal and the crown looks like a hat on a brick. You need a light rail or a filler strip to build out that 3/4 inch so the crown has something to die into, and I've fixed about 4 kitchens in the Cincinnati area where the homeowner was ready to rip the uppers off the wall over this. Am I wrong here or do some of you actually make it work without a build-out?
