Wasted $80 on a 'hardwood' plywood bundle from Facebook Marketplace

Some guy was selling what he called 'solid birch' sheets for a steal, so I grabbed 4 of them for a built-in project. Got them home and they were particle board with a paper-thin veneer that bubbled up as soon as I touched it with glue. Has anyone else gotten burned buying lumber off random sellers like that?

Learn from that one lol. Facebook Marketplace lumber is a total gamble unless you go see it in person first. Stick with big box stores or actual lumberyards, the savings ain't worth the headache.

Agree with you on that one. I got burned pretty bad once on some "kiln dried" lumber from a guy on Facebook that was still way too wet. Ended up warping and splitting on me after I built a porch swing with it. Saved maybe 30 bucks but wasted a whole weekend. Big box stores might cost more but at least you can grab a moisture meter and check it right there.
