A chat with my dad made me see my old crimper in a new light
I was complaining about my Klein coax crimper being stiff, and my dad, who used to do phone lines back in the 80s, said 'Son, that's not a bad tool, it's a broken-in one. I'd trust it over a new one any day.' He said his old one from his Bell Atlantic days crimped thousands of ends before it finally gave out. It made me stop and really look at the wear on the handles. Anyone else have an old piece of gear they won't let go of?

That's a solid point from your dad. My old leatherman has that same broken-in feel, like it just works better now. Good catch on the timeline too, @diana829, that makes sense.

Wait, did your dad say Bell Atlantic? That's a cool detail, but I think that name came a bit later, like the early 90s. In the 80s, it was still the Bell System or the regional companies right after the breakup.
