A customer in Denver asked me why I always wear gloves, even in summer.

I was running a new drop to a house last July, and the homeowner came out to watch. He saw me putting on my work gloves before handling the old, weathered cable on the pole. He said, 'It's 90 degrees out, man. Why bother with those?' I explained that the old sheathing can have tiny fiberglass strands that stick in your skin. He just nodded and said, 'Huh. Never thought about that.' Has anyone else had a customer notice a small safety habit like that?

Oh man, that's smart. I always point out the frayed edges on old line to show why I'm being careful. Makes it click for them way faster than just saying "safety first.
