Fiber drop under a driveway bit me hard last Tuesday
I was running a new drop in a cul-de-sac outside Reno and the customer's driveway had this old asphalt patch that looked fine from the top. Buried the conduit about 14 inches down, but turns out a previous crew had dumped broken concrete chunks right there, so my shovel hit one and I didn't notice the scrape on the jacket until after backfill. Signal test showed light leaking out at 20 feet from the house, so I had to dig it up again and splice in a repair sleeve, which ate an extra 90 minutes. Does anyone else eyeball shallow fills or do you always pull a locator before trenching near old driveways?
