Found out last week that most cable failures happen within 6 inches of the connector, not in the middle of the run
I caught that stat from an old installer's blog and tested it on 12 bad cables I had sitting around, 9 of them had the break right near the RJ45 end where the strain relief failed, has anyone else noticed this pattern on your service calls?

Wait, 9 out of 12 right at the connector? That's wild, I would've bet my bottom dollar most breaks happen in the middle where people step on 'em.

You said "most breaks happen in the middle where people step on 'em" but that connector stress is a different kind of failure. The connector takes all the tension from the cable being yanked instead of just impact from a foot. A step usually just dentsthe cable, but a bent connector puts constant pressure on the wire inside until it finally gives.
