Had a brand new Klein coax stripper snap on me in a crawl space yesterday.
The blade just gave out while I was prepping a line for a new drop in a house over in the West End. Had to finish the job with my old backup cutter, which slowed me down a lot. Anyone have a stripper they've used for years without it breaking?

Man, that's the worst. How old was the tool? In my experience, the new stuff can be hit or miss on quality. I've had a basic Ideal stripper for maybe seven years now, and it's been through everything. The spring is getting weak, but the blade is still solid. My buddy swears by his old Paladin, but good luck finding one now. Sometimes the simple, older designs just last longer.

My old boss at a shop in Dayton always said a tool that breaks in the first year had a factory flaw. I've seen a few brand new Klein hand tools fail right out of the gate, but the ones that make it past that point seem to last forever. It's less about old versus new design and more about catching a bad one early. I'd contact their warranty line, they've always been good about replacing duds for me.
