I finally saw the point of a proper fish tape after a crawl space in Omaha

Was pulling a line through a tight, insulated space and my old method of just pushing the cable just wouldn't cut it. Grabbed a Klein fish tape from the truck and it went through in one shot. What's your go-to tool for a tough pull?

My old push rod felt useless after that.

I get what you mean about the old push rod feeling useless, but I see it differently. That old part taught you how to set lash and spot wear patterns. It's like training wheels, you know? You needed it to learn before you could feel the difference with the new one.

Funny you mention Omaha. I was in a crawl space outside Council Bluffs once, right across the river, and the only tool that saved me was a broken off piece of coat hanger I found in the back of my truck. Bent it into a hook and fished an old coax cable out of a wall that had been painted shut for twenty years. The Klein is great and all, but sometimes the jankiest junk in your tool box is the real hero. That coat hanger still rides in my truck to this day, right next to the good stuff.
