Just realized how awkward it was explaining cable boxes to folks in the 90s

Back then, everyone wanted to see the new gear and ask a million questions. I once spent an hour showing a retired couple how to use the remote while their cat chewed on my coax cable.

You're right, they were a total mess. It was like every company tried to outdo each other with the most buttons. Half of them did nothing, and the labels wore off after a year. I spent more time squinting at the tiny print than actually watching anything. They made simple things way too hard.

Still managed to hit the wrong button half the time, honestly. Your post just reminded me how many times I turned on the cable box when I meant to turn on the TV.
