Swapped my impact driver for a hammer drill on concrete anchors and I'm never going back
I used to think an impact driver could handle anything if you just pushed hard enough. Last month I had to mount 24 TV brackets in a new apartment building downtown and stripped 3 bits before noon. A buddy on site let me borrow his hammer drill with a masonry bit and each anchor took maybe 10 seconds. Now I'm wondering how many jobs I made harder for myself over the last 5 years. Anyone else hold onto a tool way too long before upgrading?

You said "glad you finally found the right tool for the job" but I actually see it differently. An impact driver and a hammer drill are for completely DIFFERENT jobs, not really better vs worse. If someone is stripping bits mounting anchors in concrete, thats a technique problem as much as a tool problem. You gotta let the tool do the work, not lean on it like youre trying to push a car out of mud. Impact drivers are for driving screws and bolts, not drilling into masonry. That's like using a hammer to cut a board and calling it a bad saw.
