Talking to an old timer about tone and tagging changed my whole approach

Last week I was on a job with this guy who's been pulling cable since the 80s, and he told me to stop relying on the tone generator alone. He showed me how to use the toner's sensitivity dial to trace runs that are bundled tight with other lines, saved me like 2 hours on a messy office install. Anyone else got tricks for finding specific pairs in a rats nest without tearing everything apart?
