That one job where I ran cable through a pool house that wasn't done yet
Had a gig last Tuesday over in Oakwood where the homeowner wanted Cat6 run through a pool house that was still just studs and a concrete slab. Figured it would be a quick in-and-out, maybe 2 hours tops. But the framers hadn't boxed in the soffit yet, so I ended up having to snake cables through exposed joists while dodging loose nails and a dude running a saw. Took me 4 hours total and I was covered in dust by noon. Anyone else ever show up to a site that was way less finished than the customer described?

...and honestly is it really that big of a deal? I mean yeah it's annoying when you show up and the place isn't done, but you got paid for the extra time didn't you? Framers always run saws, that's just noise. And dust is just dust. Seems like a pretty normal day on any job site to me. Maybe I'm the odd one out here but I don't get all worked up about a little mess, that's just how construction works sometimes.

Snatched a roll of tape off my belt climbing over some rebar and it was gone forever in the dirt. lol. Showed up to a "finished basement" once and the ceiling was open with insulation falling everywhere. Customer said it was all good to go and there was literally a bucket of paint sitting in the middle of the room with a dead fly in it. At least you got out alive man, those saw guys never watch where they're going.

That bit about the dead fly in the paint really got me, @kim_martin. I used to think customers were just clueless, but now I see it's more like they live in a totally different reality where that stuff is fine. Honestly, it makes me think twice before I judge someone's mess, even if it's a bucket with a fly in it.
