The day I found a raccoon living in a customer's attic cable run

I was out on a service call in Oak Park last Tuesday and opened up the attic access to find a whole nest of shredded insulation and coax cable. A raccoon had chewed through three of the lines and dragged them into its den. I had to call my supervisor to get permission to reschedule, then spent 45 minutes rerouting the whole drop through the garage instead. Has anyone else dealt with animal damage this bad on a standard install?

Whoa, that raccoon was probably just trying to get better cable reception on Animal Planet.

My buddy Dave once found a possum hanging upside down from his satellite dish, just staring at the TV through the window during a storm. It stayed there for three hours, and every time the picture got fuzzy, the possum would reach out and touch the cable connector. We still joke that the repair guy could have saved himself a trip by just handing it a wrench.
