TIL those cheap plastic coax strippers from the supply house actually work great after my boss in Boise bet me a lunch.

I finally tried them on a 200-foot outdoor run last week and got a perfect strip in under 10 seconds, so has anyone else found a bargain tool that surprised them?

Honestly, I've had the opposite luck with those. The last one I used on some older, weathered RG6 crushed the braid instead of cutting it clean. Maybe it was a bad brand, but I've just gone back to my trusty knife for outdoor work.

Ugh, that's the worst when a tool just mangles the cable. A cheap stripper will absolutely do that, especially on old stiff stuff. Can't blame you for sticking with the knife.

Ah, the classic cable massacre.
