A drop of super glue on the focus ring threads fixed a loose lens I could not shim
Customer brought in a 1980s 50mm last month with a focus ring that kept drifting because the threads were worn. One tiny drop wicked into the gap and it has held through 40 shots so far, has anyone tried this and had it fail later?
Man, I have to push back on this one because super glue on focus threads is a trap. It feels solid at first, but the glue gets brittle over time and cracks loose, usually right when the customer is mid shoot. Your 40 shots is way too early to call it, since most of these fail somewhere around month three or four.
