A guy at the Toledo camera show showed me the trick with stuck filter rings that I'd never heard of
I was at the Toledo Camera Show back in March, digging through a $5 bin for a 52mm step-up ring, when a repair guy at the next table watched me fight with a filter that wouldn't budge off a beater lens. He grabbed a rubber jar opener from his kit and said the grip matters way more than force. Twenty seconds later the thing spun right off, and I'd been clamping filters in a vise for who knows how long. Now I keep a rubber pad in my bench drawer and I've used it on three jobs this month. Anyone else got a weird household tool that lives in your camera bag now?
My buddy keeps a piece of that grippy shelf liner in his bag for the same thing, swears by it on stuck lens hoods too. Cheap fix that beats scratching up a filter with pliers.
