Finally got a sticky shutter on a Canon AE-1 fixed without new parts

Had an AE-1 come in from a shop in Tulsa that was locking up at 1/1000. The usual fix is a new magnet plate, but I cleaned the old one with a q-tip and lighter fluid, let it dry for a day. Set the timing with a shutter tester from a guy on eBay, and it's hitting 1/1000 at 1.2ms now. Anyone else ever revive one of these without swapping the magnet?
