Found a 1972 repair manual that changed how I fix leaf shutters
I was digging through a box at a flea market in Portland last week and found a Kodak service guide from 1972. It had a tip about using a specific grease on Copal shutter blades that I'd never seen anywhere online. Has anyone else run into old manuals that had tricks you couldn't find in modern forums?

Oh great, another old piece of paper telling us we've been doing it wrong for 50 years. Just what every mechanic needs. Bet the guy who wrote it also fixed radios with a hammer.

Honestly, I found a 1949 Busch Pressman manual once that had a diagram showing how to shim a sticky Wollensak Raptar shutter with a piece of business card. Tried it on a beater lens I was about to toss and it lined everything up perfect. No forum post or YouTube video ever mentioned that trick.
