Just brought an old rangefinder back to life with a trick from the shop floor
The focus was totally off, and I recalled how we used to adjust them by feel back in the day. A few gentle tweaks and it's snapping sharp again. Funny how the hands-on ways still hold up.

My grandpa taught me how to tune his old Ford truck by listening to the engine. He'd adjust the carburetor until the idle sounded just right, a smooth rumble. He learned that from working on farms in the 60s, no fancy tools needed. I tried it once on my modern car, but the computer just threw error codes. There's something special about mechanical things you can fix with your hands. Your rangefinder story reminds me of that.
