Old timer told me I was cleaning lenses wrong with that canned air.
He said I was freezing the coating with the propellant and now I just use a bulb blower and a brush for $12, has anyone else switched?.

Yeah but the thing is, canned air isn't really designed for lenses in the first place. Even if you don't freeze anything, those little liquid droplets can leave residue that's a pain to wipe off later. I switched to a bulb blower a few years ago after I watched a friend ruin a really nice vintage lens by hitting it with compressed air too close. The propellant thing is real too, I've seen the frost on glass before. So yeah, that old timer was looking out for you, the brush and blower combo is way safer and basically lasts forever.
