Tried switching to lithium grease for my shutter repair work but went back to the old stuff
Been using a white lithium spray on a Pentax Spotmatic last month and it gummed up the curtain timing, so now I’m sticking with synthetic clock oil even if it costs twice as much-has anyone else had trouble with lithium grease in vintage leaf shutters?

Spent an hour scraping lithium gunk out of a Compur shutter last week, felt like I was performing dental surgery on a camera. Maybe my aim with the spray can is just terrible.

Performing dental surgery on a camera" is exactly right. A buddy of mine tried cleaning an old shutter with canned air and ended up bending the tiny leaf spring inside. He had to order a replacement part from a seller in Czech Republic and it took six weeks to arrive. Told me he spent more time waiting for that spring than he did actually fixing the thing. @julia_jones72 at least you didn't make that mistake, even if your aim is off. Sometimes slower is better with these old shutters.
