My VCR ate the tape during the Space Ghost rewatch and I'm torn on whether to fix it or go digital
Two weeks ago I sat down to rewatch my taped copy of Space Ghost Coast to Coast from 1996 and my VCR chewed the tape about ten minutes in. I tried the old trick of hitting stop, ejecting, and winding it back with a pencil, but the tape snapped right at the start of the Moltar segment. Now I'm stuck deciding between hunting down a $60 used VCR on eBay or just giving up and streaming it, which feels wrong since the whole point of this hobby is the weird tracking lines and old commercials. Part of me says the fuzzy VHS picture is half the charm of rewatching canceled shows, but the other part says I'm wasting time on dead tech when the episodes are right there online. Does anybody here still watch on tape, or did you all switch over when your players died?
That snapped right at the start of the Moltar segment part hits hard (Moltar deserves better than a pencil rescue). Keep hunting for that used VCR, the tracking lines and old commercials are the whole reason this hobby is fun.
