I paid $34 for a complete box set of a show that got cancelled after one season, and my wife still brings it up
Six months ago I walked into a used book and media store in Tulsa and found the full first season of a sci-fi show that got the axe after 8 episodes. I paid $34 for it, which felt dumb at the time, but every disc had the unaired stuff and a cast interview where the creator talks about where season 2 was headed. People keep saying streaming killed these shows, but here is a DVD proving the story got cut off mid arc and nobody upstairs cared. The kicker is my wife still jokes that I paid real money for a dead show, and honestly I would do it again. Does anyone else buy physical copies of cancelled shows just to prove they existed?
Your wife is wrong on this one. $34 for 8 episodes plus unaired footage and a creator interview is a steal. That interview alone is a piece of history you cannot get anywhere now, and once it leaves streaming it is gone for good. I have done the same with a couple of one season shows, and those discs are the only proof the thing ever aired. Sounds like money well spent to me.
