Am I the only one who blew $800 on a useless online certification?

I paid for a 'digital marketing strategist' course last fall, thinking it would help me switch fields. The content was just recycled blog posts from 2015, and the 'certificate' isn't recognized anywhere. It was a complete waste of money and about 40 hours of my time. Has anyone found a legit way to get certified without getting scammed?

$800 for 2015 blog posts is brutal. Laura_green82 has a point about reviews, but sometimes those are fake too. I'd stick with community college courses for anything that needs a real certificate.

Yeah, that thing about fake reviews is so true. I've noticed some of those certification programs have tons of five star reviews that all sound exactly the same, like they were written by bots or something. Best bet is probably to find actual people on LinkedIn who have the cert and just message them to ask if it was worth it.

Ouch! Did you check reviews first?
