Ditched my 10 page to do list for a sticky note, productivity actually went up

For like 2 years I ran my whole workday off a massive list I made every Monday. 40 items, color coded, sorted by when they were due. Looked great on paper but I kept losing sight of what actually mattered. Last month I read somewhere that the brain can only really hold about 3 or 4 priorities at once, so I tried it. Just a 3x3 sticky note with the top 3 things for the day, nothing else. It's been 3 weeks and I've finished more actual projects than in the 3 months before. Not saying it works for everyone but I'm curious, has anyone else tried ditching the big planner for something smaller?

Dude, same thing happened to me last year! I was doing the whole color coded spreadsheet thing and it was honestly just a way to feel busy without actually finishing anything. I switched to writing the three must-do tasks on a post it and it was a game changer. It's like my brain finally stopped spinning and just picked the one thing that would make the biggest difference. I also think there's something satisfying about physically crumpling up that sticky note when you're done with it. Not going back to the giant lists, that's for sure.
