Hot take: grinding your own coffee beans fresh every morning might be overrated for most people
I spent 6 months watching my buddy in Boise prep single-origin beans with a burr grinder for his morning brew and when I tried the same routine for a week, I realized my pre-ground stuff from the grocery store tasted just as good to me and saved me 10 minutes. The whole ritual made me feel like a coffee snob but honestly my taste buds aren't refined enough to tell the difference and I think I was just doing it to look cool. Has anyone else had that moment where they realized a career-related habit everyone swears by was just a waste of your time?

Used to be one of those people who swore by the whole ritual, couldn't imagine starting my day without it. I had a fancy grinder and everything. But after a late shift one night I grabbed a bag of pre-ground from the corner store and honestly couldn't tell the difference in my mug. Kind of a relief actually, saved me a bunch of time and counter space. I still get the good beans but I let the store grind them now.

Oh man the "fancy grinder and everything" part hit me right in the wallet. I went through like three different grinders trying to find the perfect one and I swear I could taste the difference but honestly it was probably just in my head. The relief you felt when you realized pre-ground works just as well is real, it's like a weight lifted off your shoulders. I still have my grinder sitting on the counter collecting dust and I keep telling myself I'll use it again but I know I won't.
