I was heading to a final round in 90 degree heat and this older guy just says 'stop rehearsing answers, tell them what you'd actually do on day one.' I switched my whole approach that morning, talked specifics about their systems instead of generic strengths, and got the offer. Anyone else ever get solid career advice from a random person at the worst possible moment?

Drove past a broken down car once and stopped to help, guy turns out to be a retired CFO who spent 20 mins telling me why job hopping every 2-3 years is the only way to actually get raises.
