Just found out most job apps get rejected by bots before a human sees them
I was reading a report from a hiring platform called Greenhouse the other day and it said that like 75% of resumes never get seen by a real person. They get filtered out by the ATS software based on keywords or formatting. So all that time I spent customizing my cover letter was basically pointless since the bot trashes it before anyone reads it. Has anyone else figured out how to actually beat those resume scanners?

Oh come on, is it really that bad though? I have a buddy who works in HR and he says those ATS filters are way dumber than people think. Like they basically just scan for a few obvious keywords and if your resume format is messy. Most of the time a real person still glances at the ones that pass the basic checks before they get tossed. I feel like people online make it sound like a big scary robot apocalypse when really it's just a simple filter that a lot of companies barely even use right. Unless you're applying to some huge corporate job with thousands of apps, a real human is probably still reading yours. Don't overthink it too much.
