Picked up a weird resume trick from a hiring manager at a coffee shop
Was grabbing a latte in Austin last Tuesday. Overheard a guy talking about how he scans resumes. He said he checks the "interests" section first. Said if it feels fake or generic, the whole resume goes in the trash. Made me rethink my whole layout.

Wait so your buddy actually put "competitive eating champion" on there and it worked? That's hilarious. I did something similar but way more dumb - I listed "master of the gas station pizza oven" because I worked at a 7-Eleven in high school and got real good at cooking those little pizzas. Got an interview with a software company and the hiring manager laughed his ass off about it during the whole first five minutes. He even asked if I could program better than I could burn a Slurpee. That 7 seconds thing is totally real though, you gotta stand out somehow.

Man that's wild. My buddy @shane244 tried something similar, put "competitive eating champion" in his hobbies section once as a joke and actually got a callback about it. Guess some managers just want to see you're not a robot.
