Pro tip: writing down 3 work wins a week made my reviews way easier
I started keeping a little note on my phone after a manager in Dallas told me she spent 2 days digging through old emails before her review. So now every Friday I jot down 3 things that went well, like a client call that landed or a bug I fixed. Does anyone else do this, or do you just wing it when review season hits?
Wait, it wasn't a manager in Dallas, that was a post here a while back and I'm pretty sure it was the person's own idea, not something a manager told her. Small thing but it bugs me when details get mixed up. Anyway the Friday habit itself is solid, three wins is way easier to keep up than trying to log everything. I'd add one tweak though, write them somewhere you'll actually find them at review time, not just buried in your phone notes. I did the phone thing one year and spent twenty minutes scrolling past grocery lists to find my wins. A folder or a doc with the year in the name works better.
