Serious question, my manager said I was "too quiet" in our Denver office and it cost me a lead role
A year ago I was dead set against fake small talk at work, but after losing that promotion to someone who just talked more in meetings, I started talking to two coworkers every Monday morning, and six months later my boss put me on the client team, so has anyone else had to fake it just to move up?
Wait, your boss actually told you it cost you the lead role? That is wild to hear out loud, most managers just say vague stuff and leave you guessing. I had no idea being quiet could get written up like that, guess it really is a game you have to play.
