Stuck between a startup and a corporate offer last month

I had to pick between a startup paying $55k with equity options and a corporate gig at $72k with solid benefits. I went with the startup and I'm already looking for a new job after 6 weeks because they ran out of funding. Has anyone else made this switch and regretted it?

I actually just read a piece on how startup equity is basically lottery tickets for most people. The article said something like 90% of startups fail, so you're really gambling with your time and money. The corporate offer sounds like it would have been way more stable, especially with that $72k base and actual benefits. Sorry you got burned, but hopefully it's a lesson for next time not to let the dream of equity cloud the reality of needing a paycheck.

Startup equity is just a fancy way to defer your salary.
