TIL my old way of asking for a raise was all wrong

I used to just list my duties and say I worked hard, but after a talk with my manager, Sarah, last month, I changed it. Now I show three specific things I did that helped the company, like saving $5,000 on a vendor contract. Has anyone else tried this kind of numbers-based approach?

I get the numbers thing, but honestly, my manager just cares if the work gets done. Showing a list of tasks has always worked fine for me.

Right, because managers never change their minds or get replaced by one who loves charts and graphs. Your list of tasks is adorable, kind of like bringing a water gun to a forest fire. Hope the next boss is cool with bullet points when budgets get tight.

Totally, same here... just showing up works for me.
