Took a $15 an hour pay cut to work for a startup in Denver
Thought it would lead to equity or a fast promotion, but six months in they're still burning cash and no one's gotten a raise. Has anyone else taken a gamble on a small company and had it totally flop?

@elliotjenkins nailed it, the promise of equity is just a shiny distraction most of the time. A lower paycheck with no raise in sight is basically a bet on hope, not a real job. Startups crash hard when they can't stop burning cash.

Man, that "still burning cash" part hits hard. I've seen that exact situation play out for friends - it's rough when the promise of equity turns into just a lower paycheck.
