Bad week on a deck job in Tulsa turned my methods around

Last Thursday I spent 6 hours ripping out a railing I'd installed Tuesday because the homeowner wanted the posts flush with the fascia, not set back like I do standard. It rained hard on Wednesday and the porch stayed wet, so every measurement I took with my tape felt off by an 8th, which made me double check everything and slow down way more than usual. Has anyone else had a call like that where one picky detail ends up teaching you a better sequence for the next build?
