Dropped $400 on a cheap track saw and regretted it 3 months later

I needed a track saw for a big cabinet job in Detroit last fall. Went with a no-name brand off Amazon to save cash. It worked okay for about two months, but then the track started warping and the blade guard stuck halfway. Spent another $200 on a proper Makita and it's been dead on ever since. Anyone else try to save money on a major tool and get burned like I did?

I went cheap on a router years ago and it nearly caught fire cutting dados. Ended up borrowing my buddy's Festool and bought one the next week. Sometimes you just gotta pay up front or you'll pay twice later. My Makita track saw has been through three job sites without a hitch. The cheap ones just don't hold up under real use.

Paid $350 for one of those off-brand track saws from a scratch-and-dent sale two years ago. Lasted maybe four months before the motor started smoking on a simple plywood cut. Had to eat the loss and grab a Festool that's still going strong.
