Finally caved and bought a track saw instead of wrestling with a circular saw and straight edge

Last month I was doing some kitchen cabinets near Denver and spent 45 minutes fighting a sheet of plywood that just kept slipping. Watched a guy finish the same cut in 5 minutes with a track saw and that was enough for me.

Forty five minutes? I would've thrown that circular saw across the garage. I spent a whole afternoon once trying to cut a straight line on melamine for a closet system and ended up with a jagged edge that looked like a toddler drew it. Finally snapped and bought a cheap track saw on sale, best hundred bucks I ever spent. The dust collection alone makes it worth it, no more breathing in that fine particle board dust.

Nah, melamine is particle board with a plastic coating, you were cutting laminate, not particle board.

Ha, @blake_cooper is right again! Just cheap plastic over MDF.
