Finally nailed scribing a countertop on the first try today

Been doing kitchens for about 8 years now and I always hated scribing the backsplash to the wall. Today I took an extra 15 minutes to map out the low spots with a contour gauge instead of my usual eyeball method. Fit like a glove on the first drop in, no caulk hiding anything. Anyone else have one of those little tricks that saved you hours of sanding?

You ever notice how slowing down for those few extra minutes upfront saves you from hours of frustration later? It's funny how that rule applies to almost everything, not just countertops.

Wait, is that always true though? I feel like sometimes you can overthink the "slowing down" part and end up stuck in analysis paralysis. There's definitely a balance, but I've had projects where I spent forever measuring twice and still ended up changing my mind halfway through. Slowing down only helps if you're actually making the right decisions on the front end, otherwise it's just wasting time looking busy.
