Had a squirrel stash acorns in my miter saw stand last fall
I was working on a deck in Cincinnati and the saw kept jamming. Opened the stand's compartment and found a whole winter's worth of nuts packed in there. What's the weirdest thing you've found inside a tool on a job?

Man I always thought my tools were safe from that stuff. Found a whole mouse nest in my old compressor tank once, changed my whole outlook.

Yeah that'll do it. Makes you check everything twice now, right? My uncle had a whole family of squirrels set up shop in his riding mower over the winter. Chewed through half the wiring harness. Nothing's really safe if it's got a dark, dry hole to crawl into. Kind of makes you paranoid about every piece of gear you own.

Wait does your compressor tank have a screen on it now? I found a squirrel nest inside a roll of house wrap once (the big 10-foot roll that was sitting on a job site for like two months). Thing is, we had already wrapped half the house with it before I noticed the shredded insulation and chewed-up acorn pieces flaking out every time I unrolled a new section. Had to basically unwrap and re-wrap the whole back side of that house, which the GC found hilarious but the homeowners definitely did not.
