Just realized my brand new framing nailer was shooting crooked because of my compressor pressure

I bought a DeWalt framing nailer last week and every third nail was bending like crazy on a job in Austin. Turns out my old compressor was pushing 140 psi instead of the 90 it needs, and that extra force was wrecking the nails. Has anyone else struggled with air pressure issues or do you think it's just my setup being garbage? lmao

Man, I had a buddy who ran into basically the exact same thing with his framing nailer. He was working on a fence out in the Hill Country and couldn't figure out why his nails were curving all over the place. He spent like three hours blaming the nailer before he checked his compressor gauge and it was reading like 145 psi because the regulator was busted. Idk why those old compressors just fail like that, but it seems like a super common issue once they've been sitting for a while. Maybe it's just one of those things where the tool is fine but the air supply is the real headache.

145 psi is CRAZY, I used to think the nailer was always the problem too. I had a whole shelf of junked nailers I blamed for bent nails until I finally checked my own compressor like your buddy did. Turns out my regulator was stuck at 135 and I'd been ruining perfectly good tools for months. That really changed how I look at air supply issues now, honestly the compressor is way more finicky than I ever gave it credit for.
