Rebuilt my miter saw stand with scrap 2x4s and a $7 tube of glue, and the wobble that bugged me for 8 months is gone
My old stand had a racked frame that shifted about a quarter inch every time I rolled it across the garage. Last weekend I tore it down and rebuilt the whole thing from scrap 2x4s left over from a closet job in Decatur, glued and screwed every joint instead of just screws. Cut four new legs, squared it up on the floor, and it now rolls dead straight with zero flex. Curious if anyone here braces the legs diagonally or just trusts the glue and screws like I did.
A buddy of mine had the same racking problem and swore glue plus screws was enough, no bracing. Two months later the thing started walking sideways again because screws alone won't fight that sideways load, they just loosen up over time. He added one diagonal piece on each side and the whole stand stiffened right up. Glue helps a lot but a diagonal or two is cheap insurance, especially if you roll it around a lot.
