That old timer wisdom is gold. He taught you to look down the edge, not just glance at the flat face. Pick one end, close one eye, and line up the board with a straight line in the distance, like a roof edge. The curve pops right out when you do it that way. Always mark the crown side with a little 'C' in pencil before you cut. What's the biggest project you've used that trick on?
