PSA: the diner by my mom's place in Toledo puts the jelly packet UNDER the toast, and honestly it works
Stopped at a little diner on Sylvania Ave in Toledo last weekend with my mom. Waitress slid my plate over and the grape jelly packet was sitting under the toast, not on the rim like normal. She said they do it so the plate doesn't slide around when you carry it, and the packet warms up so it spreads easier. I tried it at home twice this week and I'm not going back. Anyone else got a weird plate setup that sounds wrong but actually helps?
The jelly packet under the toast thing is wild but I get it, little tricks like that show up everywhere once you notice them. My grandma used to put a damp paper towel under her cutting board so it would not slide, same kind of logic I guess.
