Why I stopped checking pockets before laundry, my phone survived a full wash cycle in Denver
Last Saturday at my place in Denver I threw my jeans straight in the washer without patting them down like everyone says you should. My phone went through the whole hot cycle with the sheets and I only found it when I pulled the wet laundry out 40 minutes later. I panicked, dried it off, and left it in rice for two days even though half the internet says rice does nothing. It turned back on and has worked fine for 9 days now, no cracks, no water spots under the screen. My roommate keeps telling me I got lucky and I should still check pockets every time. So do we really need to check every pocket, or is this whole thing way overblown? I want to hear from people who actually messed this up.
