Hit 10,000 miles on my car and suddenly hated it
I kept a spreadsheet of every fuel fill for like 4 years, just tracking MPG out of habit. When the odometer rolled past 10,000 last Tuesday, I realized the engine noise I'd been ignoring got louder, and I couldn't unhear it. My buddy said 'that's just the car breaking in,' but after I ran the math, repairs were costing more per month than a new lease would. Took it to a mechanic on Friday and he confirmed the timing chain was stretched, which floored me because 10k sounds so low. Anyone else hit a round number that totally changed how you felt about a purchase you'd already made?
